From Local Search Visibility to Measurable Growth: How SEO Helped a Vein & Vascular Clinic Strengthen Its Search Presence

Over the first four months of SEO efforts, a vein and vascular care clinic serving Millcreek and the greater Salt Lake City area in Utah recorded measurable improvements across key local search and organic performance metrics. Google Business Profile interactions grew from 94 to 851 per reporting month, calls rose from 0 to 56, and website clicks increased from 15 to 76. Over the same period, the SEO Health Score rose from 84 to 92, while Google Search Console clicks grew from 41 to 181 and impressions climbed from 444 to 9,220.

The clinic’s flagship local search, “Vascular Doctor Millcreek UT,” moved from 0% to 100% Share of Local Voice (SoLV) and held that level through the final two months. This case study explores the strategies we applied, the data behind each result, and what those numbers do and do not tell us about the clinic’s growing online search presence.

  • Average SoLV across all 10 tracked keywords: 0% → 32.84%

Four-Month SEO Performance Highlights

seo performance dashboard

Local Map Pack tracking showed that “Vascular Doctor Millcreek UT” improved from 0% Share of Local Voice (SoLV) on May 27, 2026, to 81.48% in June and 100% in both July and August. By August 19, 2026, it was the only one of the 10 tracked keywords at 100%. SoLV measures how frequently a business appears in the top three local search results across tracked opportunities. Across all 10 tracked keywords, the simple average SoLV rose from 0% at the baseline to 32.84% by Month 4.

Combined with improvements in Google Business Profile engagement, organic search exposure, and technical SEO health, these results indicate stronger overall performance, although fluctuations in some metrics highlight the importance of continued monitoring.

About the Client and Its Local Market

The clinic specializes in vein and vascular care, including treatment options for varicose veins and spider veins, which makes local online visibility essential for reaching potential patients. Healthcare searches are highly local and high-intent: people look for providers using phrases such as “vascular doctor near me,” “vein treatment clinic,” and “spider vein treatment,” then compare the clinics that appear in the Google Map Pack and search results.

The campaign focused on strengthening the clinic’s visibility across Millcreek, Salt Lake City, Utah, and surrounding areas. Key efforts included optimizing Google Search presence, Google Maps listings, and the Google Business Profile so that patients could more easily discover the clinic’s services, location, and contact options.

Additional SEO improvements focused on website relevance, technical performance, and local search optimization. Because the clinic’s website is built on Wix, which limited direct website access, BrandLume worked through documented recommendations and content deliverables that the clinic’s team then implemented.

Together, these strategies aimed to strengthen the clinic’s online presence and make it easier for people to find its specialized healthcare services.

The Challenge: Building Visibility in a Competitive Local Search Market

The clinic had clear room to grow before the campaign began, and the Month 1 baseline gave every result a starting point.

  • Local Map Pack: 0% Share of Local Voice (SoLV) across all 10 tracked keywords on May 27, 2026. The clinic was not in the top three local results for any tracked search.
  • Google Business Profile: 94 interactions and no calls.
  • Organic search: 444 impressions and 41 clicks in Google Search Console.
  • Technical health: SEO Health Score of 84.
  • Website: it needed to communicate the clinic’s services more clearly to patients and search engines.

These starting conditions called for a coordinated strategy, with each area measured monthly against the same baseline.

The SEO Strategy: What We Did to Strengthen Search Visibility

BrandLume organized the campaign around four complementary workstreams: local search visibility and Google Business Profile optimization, on-page relevance, technical SEO, and off-page local authority. Progress was reported in monthly cycles (Month 1 through Month 4), allowing each activity and each metric to be reviewed against the same baseline.

Each workstream addresses a different aspect of search performance. Local optimization helps the clinic appear in nearby searches, on-page work clarifies what each page offers, technical SEO helps search engines access and understand the website, and off-page work builds trust signals. Together, they provided a structured approach to improving discoverability while monitoring the results over time.

Track 1: Strengthening Local Search Visibility & Google Business Profile Optimization

We tracked local rankings and kept the Google Business Profile current with the clinic’s services.

  • Monitored Local Map Pack performance within a 10-mile radius across 10 targeted keywords
  • Mixed service terms (such as “vein treatment clinic near me”) with location terms (Millcreek, Salt Lake City) to reflect how patients search
  • Optimized business information, service areas, social profile details, service descriptions, and profile content
  • Published approved posts on Radiofrequency Ablation, VenaSeal, Sclerotherapy, and Phlebectomy, four treatments patients often research

Track 2: Improving On-Page and Service-Page Relevance

We rewrote the pages patients land on so each page’s topic is clear.

  • Developed the homepage revamp and content for the main Treatment and Symptoms pages, which the client implemented
  • Covered both page types because Treatment pages reach patients who know what care they want, while Symptoms pages reach people earlier in their research
  • Optimized the homepage header in Month 2
  • Fixed long title tags so page titles display in full in search results

Track 3: Strengthening the Technical SEO Foundation

Recurring audits found technical issues, and the client implemented the fixes. Direct website access was limited by the Wix setup, so BrandLume documented each recommendation for the client’s team.

  • Reviewed meta descriptions, external links, security headers, and other elements
  • Added the missing H1 heading, which signals each page’s main topic
  • Resubmitted the XML sitemap in Google Search Console to help Google discover and crawl pages
  • Raised the SEO Health Score from 84 to 92 (88 in both Month 2 and Month 3)

Although the score improved, the Month 4 audit still found further opportunities, so implementation of the remaining recommendations continues.

Track 4: Building Authority Through Off-Page & Local SEO

This workstream focused on consistent listings and monitoring the backlink profile.

  • Citation building began in Month 1, and 706 citation building assets were completed across the four months. These keep the business name, address, and phone number consistent across relevant online directories and resources, which helps search engines confirm the clinic’s details are accurate and trustworthy
  • Monitored referring domains and the backlink profile as part of the broader off-page strategy
  • Referring domains went from 2 in Month 1 to 3 in Months 2–4, and backlinks went from 2 to 6 over the same period
  • These are early numbers from a small base, so the profile gives the clinic a starting point for further off-page work

Calls: Increased Call Activity

  • Calls per month: 0 → 13 → 18 → 56
  • The call button is one of the most direct routes from a search result to patient contact
  • The data doesn’t show how many calls led to consultations or appointments

Local Map Pack Growth: How Local Search Visibility Improved Over 3–4 Months

Local Map Pack visibility was one of the clearest areas of progress during the engagement, with 10 targeted keywords tracked across four reporting cycles: the initial May 27, 2026, baseline, followed by June, July, and August. Share of Local Voice (SoLV) measures how frequently the business appears in the top three local search positions across tracked search opportunities; it differs from a single Google Maps ranking and does not indicate visibility in every possible local search result or across 100% of the geographic area.

By Month 4, nine of the 10 tracked keywords had recorded some level of visibility, up from none at the baseline. The simple average SoLV across all 10 keywords rose from 0% in Month 1 to 10.12% in Month 2, 26.67% in Month 3, and 32.84% in Month 4.

This was the strongest result of the campaign.

  • Month 1 (May 5–June 5, 2026): 0% SoLV
  • Month 2: 81.48%
  • Month 3: 100%
  • Month 4 (August 5–September 5, 2026): 100%
  • Grid reports show top-three visibility at 87.65% on July 7, then 100% on July 21, August 5, and August 19

In practical terms, the clinic appeared in the top three for this high-intent search across every tracked opportunity in the final two periods. The data below compares July and August 2026 rankings.

Vein Treatment and Spider Vein Treatment Searches

Two more high-intent searches grew substantially, so gains were not limited to the strongest keyword.

  • “Vein Treatment Clinic Near Me”: 0% → 11.11% → 41.98% → 50.62%, a steady climb
  • “Spider Vein Treatment Near Me”: 4.94% in Month 2 → 54.32% in Month 3 → 55.56% in Month 4, a slight gain after an earlier jump
  • Both are broad “near me” searches, so results can shift with the searcher’s exact location

Salt Lake City Searches: Progress With Some Fluctuations

Results varied by keyword. City-level searches usually have more competing providers than neighborhood-level ones, so gains are harder to hold.

  • “Vein Specialist Salt Lake City”: 0% in Month 2 → 17.28% → 51.85%
  • “Vascular Clinic Salt Lake City”: 0% → 14.81%
  • “Vein Clinic Salt Lake City”: peaked at 45.68% in Month 3, then fell to 39.51%
  • “Varicose Vein Doctor Near Me”: stayed at 3.7% in the last two periods

Tracking each keyword individually shows where visibility is improving and where it is stalling.

New Visibility for Previously Unranked Searches

Two keywords showed their first visibility in Month 4, while one is still at zero.

  • “Minimally Invasive Vein Treatment Utah”: 7.41%
  • “Varicose Vein Treatment Millcreek UT”: 4.94%
  • “Leg Vein Treatment Millcreek”: 0% in all four periods, an opportunity for further optimization

Early, low gains like these can guide more targeted content and profile work in the months ahead.

Google Business Profile Growth: Increasing Local Engagement

Improving local visibility is only one part of a local SEO campaign. Engagement data helps show whether people are interacting with a business profile after encountering it in search.

Across the four reporting periods, the clinic recorded substantial growth in reported Google Business Profile interactions, rising from 94 in Month 1 to 370 in Month 2, 506 in Month 3, and 851 in Month 4. In the reported data, total interactions equal the sum of three actions (calls, direction requests, and website clicks), so the charts below show both the overall total and each action individually.

google business profile dashboard

Total Interactions: Significant Growth in Profile Engagement

Google Business Profile interactions increased from 94 in Month 1 to 851 in Month 4, an increase of 805.32%, and each month recorded a higher total than the one before. Direction requests made up the largest share of activity, accounting for about 84% of Month 4 interactions (719 of 851). These interactions provide insight into how users engage with the profile, although they do not establish how many unique users became patients.

Calls: Increased Call Activity

Call activity recorded through Google Business Profile grew from 0 in Month 1 to 13 in Month 2, 18 in Month 3, and 56 in Month 4, suggesting more users were initiating calls directly from the listing. For a healthcare provider, the call button is one of the most direct routes from a search result to patient contact. The available data does not confirm how many calls resulted in consultations or appointments.

Direction Clicks: Greater Interest in Finding the Clinic

Direction requests rose from 79 in Month 1 to 297 in Month 2, 430 in Month 3, and 719 in Month 4 (+810.13%). This indicates stronger interest in locating the clinic through Google Business Profile. However, direction clicks alone do not confirm physical visits.

Website Clicks: More Engagement With the Clinic’s Website

Website clicks rose from 15 in Month 1 to 60 in Month 2, dipped slightly to 58 in Month 3, and reached their highest reported level of 76 in Month 4 (+406.67% versus Month 1). This indicates stronger recorded engagement with the profile’s website link overall, while continued monitoring can help assess whether the trend persists.

Organic Search Growth: Expanding Visibility in Google Search

Alongside local search optimization, the campaign monitored organic website performance through Google Search Console, Google’s free tool for tracking how a website performs in search results.

Two key metrics were used to assess performance: clicks and impressions. Impressions indicate how often the website appeared in Google Search results, while clicks indicate visits generated when users selected a search result.

The highlights snapshot also recorded growth in new organic keywords, from 11 in Month 1 to 19 in Month 4 (+72.73%).

google search performance data

Impressions: A Broader Search Footprint

Reported impressions increased from 444 in Month 1 to 2,670 in Month 2, 4,300 in Month 3, and 9,220 (9.22K) in Month 4, more than a twentyfold increase and a higher total in every reporting period. This indicates that the website appeared in Google Search results far more frequently during the campaign, creating more opportunities for people researching relevant healthcare services to discover the clinic.

Clicks: More Visits From Google Search

Reported clicks increased from 41 in Month 1 to 121 in Month 2, held at 120 in Month 3, and reached 181 in Month 4, more than four times the Month 1 level. This growth coincided with the campaign’s local optimization, on-page improvements, and technical SEO work.

However, the available data does not isolate the impact of individual activities or confirm how many clicks resulted in patient inquiries or appointments.

Technical SEO Health: Strengthening the Website’s Foundation

Technical SEO provides the foundation that helps search engines access, interpret, and evaluate a website’s pages. Even well-written content can struggle to perform if the underlying site has crawling, structure, or security issues.

During the four-month engagement, recurring audits helped identify technical opportunities, document recommended fixes, and monitor changes in the reported SEO Health Score.

site health score data

SEO Health Score Progression

The reported SEO Health Score improved from 84 in Month 1 (May 5–June 5, 2026) to 88 in Months 2 and 3, and then to 92 in Month 4 (August 5–September 5, 2026), a 9.52% increase overall. During the campaign, the client implemented previously recommended changes, including adding the missing H1 heading and resubmitting the XML sitemap in Google Search Console. These developments formed part of the broader technical SEO progress, although the available data does not establish that any single implementation directly caused the score improvement.

What Changed After 3–4 Months? Connecting the SEO Improvements to the Results

Each metric covers a different part of the search experience, so the results make most sense read together.

  • Map Pack visibility: shows whether the clinic is found locally
  • Google Business Profile activity: shows whether people engage once they find it
  • Search Console: shows how the website performs in organic results
  • SEO Health Score: reflects the technical foundation behind all three
  • Between May 5 and September 5, 2026, interactions grew from 94 to 851, impressions from 444 to 9,220, and the SEO Health Score from 84 to 92

Together, they show a clinic that is easier to find, easier to contact, and better supported technically.

Local Search Visibility Improved Across Several Targeted Keywords

The Local Map Pack campaign began with 0% SoLV across all 10 tracked keywords in the initial May 27 reporting period. By Month 4, “Vascular Doctor Millcreek UT” had reached 100% SoLV, while “Spider Vein Treatment Near Me” reached 55.56%, “Vein Specialist Salt Lake City” reached 51.85%, and “Vein Treatment Clinic Near Me” reached 50.62%. Nine of the 10 tracked keywords were visible by Month 4.

These changes coincided with ongoing local search monitoring and Google Business Profile optimization, indicating stronger measured visibility for several targeted local searches, although visibility for other keywords, such as “Leg Vein Treatment Millcreek,” remained limited or fluctuated.

Google Business Profile Engagement Increased

Google Business Profile interactions grew from 94 to 851 per reporting month, with calls reaching 56, direction clicks reaching 719, and website clicks reaching 76 by Month 4. This engagement reflects stronger opportunities for potential patients to discover the clinic, explore its services, request directions, and connect with the business, and it supports the clinic’s visibility among people actively searching for relevant vein and vascular care. Continued profile optimization and local search monitoring will help sustain this momentum and support future opportunities to turn online discovery into meaningful patient interactions.

Organic Search Exposure and Technical SEO Improved

The campaign strengthened the clinic’s organic search presence by improving opportunities for potential patients to discover its website through relevant searches. Impressions grew from 444 to 9,220 and clicks from 41 to 181, while the SEO Health Score reached 92. Ongoing on-page optimization, technical SEO reviews, and implemented recommendations supported progress in search visibility and overall website health. While further technical improvements remain, these efforts established a stronger foundation for continued organic growth, improved search performance, and greater online discoverability.

Why the Strategy Worked: The SEO Approach Behind the Growth

The vein and vascular campaign illustrates why local SEO is best approached as a combination of interconnected activities rather than isolated tasks. Each part of the campaign addressed a different aspect of online discoverability: local visibility, on-page relevance, technical health, and off-page authority. Together, they contributed to a more comprehensive understanding of the clinic’s search presence.

Local Search Reflects Service-Specific Demand

Search visibility can differ significantly depending on the service and location a person searches for. In this campaign, “Vascular Doctor Millcreek UT” reached 100% SoLV, while “Varicose Vein Doctor Near Me” held at 3.7% and “Leg Vein Treatment Millcreek” stayed at 0%. This highlights the importance of understanding how potential patients look for specialized healthcare providers rather than treating local search performance as a single, uniform outcome.

Online Discovery Involves Multiple Touchpoints

Potential patients may encounter a clinic through local listings, Google Search, or its website. These touchpoints serve different purposes in the discovery process: the Map Pack and Google Business Profile help people find and contact a nearby provider, while organic results and website content help them learn about conditions and treatments. A consistent and informative online presence across all three is important when people evaluate their healthcare options.

SEO Results Require Context

Individual metrics provide only part of the picture. Search visibility, user engagement, and website health should be evaluated together to better understand campaign performance. For example, a rise in impressions shows greater exposure, while clicks, calls, and direction requests show whether people acted on it.

A coordinated SEO approach helps businesses make informed decisions about their online presence without assuming that any single activity guarantees specific results.

Key Takeaways for Local Healthcare Businesses

The vein and vascular case study highlights broader lessons for healthcare businesses looking to improve their online discoverability and connect with people searching for relevant services, particularly specialty practices that serve a defined local area.

Local Search Visibility Requires Relevance

Appearing in search results is most valuable when visibility aligns with the services a business provides and the locations it serves. A targeted approach, such as tracking service-plus-location keywords, helps connect search demand with relevant healthcare offerings and shows where visibility is strong and where it still needs work.

Online Discoverability Extends Beyond Rankings

A healthcare business’s online presence includes more than its position in search results. The information people find, the clarity of its services, and the experience provided by its website and Google Business Profile all contribute to how they evaluate a potential provider.

SEO Progress Requires Realistic Expectations

Improvements in visibility and engagement are valuable indicators of progress, but they do not automatically translate into appointments or new patients. Business outcomes should be evaluated using appropriate conversion data, such as booked consultations and the source of each inquiry, alongside SEO performance.

Consistency Supports Long-Term Growth

A clear, consistent online presence helps establish a stronger foundation for continued discoverability. Regularly publishing profile posts, maintaining accurate listings, and acting on technical audit findings all build on one another over time. SEO should be viewed as an ongoing investment in how a business presents its services and connects with its intended audience.

Every business operates in a different competitive environment, so results will vary. The broader lesson is to build an SEO strategy around relevant search intent, a clear online presence, and measurable business objectives.
